Hello! My name is Yeshe and I’m taking over this blog!

Jax has asked me to be Paint Encinitas’ new blog-writer, and to join forces with her in watering the Paint Encinitas garden. It’s a beautiful, growing thing, this organization — I’m so excited to be a part of it!

Let me formally introduce myself: My name is Yeshe Salz and I am that girl who got kicked off the playground in third grade for having my journal on the swing set. I had been people watching on paper. I was recording my observations of the strange species that is the elementary schooler when like Joan of Arc I was torn away from my duty and punished for its revolutionary nature. Needless to say, that event pretty much set the tone for the rest of my life and I’ve been using pen and paper as a form of rebellion ever since.

This is precisely why I am so excited to be writing here. Because, indeed, Paint Encinitas is a movement. A movement of artists, thinkers and community members all coming together to tend to the garden that is public art. And by public art I don’t just mean murals. I mean mosaics and installations and sculpture and collage — any art at all — which is for us all. For the community to share, experience and enjoy. Together, Paint Encinitas is a collective movement headed towards a future where the arts are woven into the fabric of society.

So thank you! For taking the time to read this blog and allowing us to create a web of art lovers and creators in Encinitas and beyond. I look forward to my many endeavors as your on paper [or screen] tour guide to the Paint Encinitas garden. Let’s grow!

Yours truly,
